Alibag

Alibag is a popular getaway, both in real life and reel Bollywood movies. Though its growth to a popular beach town is obvious and much deserved, the town sees a huge crowd throughout the year that gives you less time to explore the place on your own. There are tons of beaches here, the popular ones being Alibag beach, Nagaon beach, Versoli beach, Awas beach and others. Awas Beach is the quietest here and a stunning escape from the rush of tourists. If you want a break from beaches, though it seems unlikely, you can head to Kolaba Fort, which is close to Alibag beach. If you are in the mood for some adventure, there are numerous water sports that take place here and are a must do. There are also tons of hotels in case you are looking for a luxurious holiday since the hotels focus on a complete holiday package for travellers.

Took out our car on a Saturday morning and drove down to Alibagh, Nahur. The drive from Bombay to Alibagh is not faraway long drive, Though there are two routes one could take one is a shorter route and other is a bit longer one but, Tip: I would suggest everyone to take the longer route because the roads of this routes are much better than the shorter route.

Next day we got up at 9.30 AM and got ready to visit Murud Janjira but upon reaching there it was utter disappointment that the boat was not leaving as there was not much crowd. It being a middle day being Tuesday we had to wait till some people comes. We decided to have breakfast there and ordered Omelette. At about 11.30AM groups of people started coming and the boat left for the fort at about 12PM.Murud Janjira is another mesmerizing fort being famously known as unconquered fort till date. The fort is so strong and having India's 3rd heaviest Canon named Kalalbangdi. The first being at Vijapur, second being at Devgiri. The fort is in great condition till date. One can also see Padmadurg also known as Kasa Fort. built by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in order to capture Janjira but all the attempts were failed. After the fort we headed back to home. On our way back we also visited Siddhi Palace which is shut completely as the people would stole historic artefacts. Hence we just could take picture from outside and left further for Alibaug city. We had our final lunch of this adventurous trip at Alibaug city at Hotel Sanman Gomantak. A delicious hotel and ended with another big glass of Solkadi for each one of us. We reached back at Mumbai at about 6PM in evening marking end of the trip.It was fun as we have not counted the number of beaches in total we visited, saw, passed from and also number of Ghats we crossed to stay on the beachside. Moreover the Anuskura ghat while coming from Kolhapur Malkapur Road.We covered up 1122kms to be exact as on our odo meter. The trip to fish paradise being Our Konkan ended with leaving us to crave for more and we shall be back again on the same route but this time on our bikes. It is pertinent to note that this roads are neither meant for car as they are very narrow and driving is risky also nor made for bikes as it is totally empty. You may spot 1 car only after 40-50 kms no nearby village for help if you are stuck with puncture or any other mechanical problem. Especially if you want to stick to coastal route without touching the main road or National Highway, you are ought to have company of 4-5 bikes along with you, otherwise it's a hell of a task as neither roads are good nor there's any network coverage for your rescue. But apart from all this the Konkan is still mesmerising and a must visit ditching Goa and Gokarna etc.As the Konkani people says " Yeva Konkan Aaplach Asa" means " Come, Konkan is yours only".
