Ahmednagar Tourism and Travel Guide

This is a city in the same district of Ahmednagar and this forms the district headquarters too. The name of this hostorical city was given after the Nizam Ahmed Shah. He was the one who built this city in the 15th century after replacing the previous one which was known as Bhingar. Ahmednagar has a rich history and this is also the place known to be the origin of the Nizams. It was here that the Bahmani Sultanate broke up and the Nizam formed his own dynasty known as the Nizam Shahi Dynasty. The fort here was earlier used by the British to house Indian Delegates such as Jawaharlal Nehru and others. The former Prime Minister is said to have started his famous book "The Journey of my Life" from this place. This is still a seat of the Armoured Military of India.
