en route kandy's there is a elephant sanctuary that's home to hundreds of elephants and most of them rescued! the sanctuary has a museum that depicts different types of elephants that have existed over the years and the ice age stories as well.
It was quite fun to sit on elephant's back while they spray water on you. (i am an animal lovers and generally i am against making money on animal's expense but these elephants are raised and fed by the money which comes from the ticket money, its an orphanage for elephants).Spice plantation was an interesting tour as well but not extraordinary, i have been to spice plantation in Munnar and this was not much different from that.
Did you ever think that you might end up bathing really cute elephants, and taking care of them for a day on your holiday? Well, this can happen if you visit the elephant sanctuaries in Kandy – there are two; Millennium Elephant Foundation and Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage. At the Millennium Elephant Foundation, you can spend your day walking with elephants, bathing them, giving them their meals and helping the organisation create awareness about taking care of wild or rescued elephants.
Bathe and feed the elephants at the Elephant Sanctuary in Kandy!
