Belur Tourism & Travel Guide

Belur is a beautiful temple town in Karnataka famous for the stunning Chennakeseva Temple. Constructed to mark the victory of King Vishnuvardhana over the Cholas, the Chennakesava temple is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. Another popular temple here is the Kedareshwara temple, which is a remarkable representation of two carved emblems of Hoysala. Built in the year 1319, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located near the town of Belur is the small town of Halebeedu, which is also famous for its temples built during Hoysala period. Along with Belur and Shravanabelagola, Halebeedu forms the Golden Triangle of tourism in the state. Other famous temples of the region are the Kappe Chennigaraya temple and Veera Narayana temple, among others. Being a popular destination among devotees, it has a number of hotels and other accommodation options available for tourists, while Hotel Mayura and Kanha restaurant offer meal options. Visit Belur for a unique experience of spirituality and self discovery.
