Hajo is an ancient site of pilgrimage in Assam that holds spiritual significance for three religions – Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism. The area has many temples and sacred sites, which are frequented by believers throughout the year.
Considered to be the point where the deities once convened, the Deva Bhavana is a temple that will charm you with its simple architecture and peaceful environment. But the most popular is the Hayagriva Madhava Mandir. This is a beautiful temple, constructed with an Assamese touch, visible in the rows of elephants carved on its body. There is also a big pond located right next to the temple premises.
Hajo can be reached quite easily as it is well-connected network with the cities of Guwahati and Tezpur. The nearest railhead, as well as airport, is in Guwahati.
