This is a very old place and a town in the Haveri Headquarters. The name of the town is derived from two words- havu and Keri meaning places for snakes. This place also has a number of Maths or holy places. It is said that earlier this town had more than 100 maths but it has decreased now. Haveri is also famous for cardamom garlands and also because ot exports byadagi chillies famous all around India.
