The Drang Drung Glacier is a mountain glacier on the Kargil-Zanskar Road near the Pensi La mountain pass. With a maximum length of 23 kilometres and an average elevation of 4,780 metres, the Drang-Drung Glacier is the biggest in Ladakh other than the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram Range.

The glacier is a large, slow-moving stream of ice formed by crushed sheets of snow that progressively bends and surges in response to gravity. Drang-Drung Glacier, one of India’s largest glaciers, provides magnificent views of the Himalayan snow-capped mountain peaks. The Drang Drung glacier is the source of the Doda River, and it is accessible by foot from Padum.

The Drang Drung glacier also feeds the Stod River. The glacier seems to be a river from the Pensi La pass, except that it is a river of ice. With such a high height, the glacier appears beautiful and awe-inspiring. The Drang Drung is one of the most popular attractions in the Zanskar area, and it is unquestionably an adventurer’s dream.
