It was 9:30 in the morning when I woke up from the 7th call from a colleague. He asked me to get ready by 10:00 as we'll be riding to Chakrata. I didn't want to leave my bed because it was the 25th of December, Christmas, a day off from work. I gave some excuses but agreed in the end. I took a shower and wore the first top I saw in my cupboard, not caring about how I looked.
It was a sudden plan, so we sat for breakfast and then and there planned our trip. We rented two bikes, opened Google Maps as our guide, and our journey began.
After riding for 3 hours straight, we could spot snow around. With 'Safarnama' playing in our portable speaker, it was another level of experience.
I was recording myself while enjoying the breeze on my face when I saw everything around me rotate at 90°. The bike skidded and we hit the ground. We went sliding towards the edge and those 3 seconds were the longest 3 seconds of my life. I was horrified thinking I might end up in the hospital with a fractured leg or what would happen if I fell near the bike and the bike explodes, like in the movies. Luckily we stopped a foot before the edge and got saved. My hands turned blue and they went numb. We had to heat our hands using the bike's silencer.
At last, when we reached our destination, the view was mesmerizing. I was very excited. We stayed there for some time, ate some Pahadon wali Maggi, made some reels, and then it was time to leave. It was my first ride to the hills. I will cherish all the memories of this trip for the rest of my life.
