Day 1

People following my blog would know that I have been doing an all India motorbike journey. And this journey started nine months ago and so far I have traveled along the east coast road of India all the way to Kaniyakumari from where I entered into the west coast of India through Kerala and been riding north since.

Even before I started my ride I had decided to spend my Christmas and new year 2019 at God's own country. Since I had spent more time than I expected in the other pit stops I took along the coast I was running late for Christmas. So I had to be at the backwater village of Alleppey before Christmas and I still had Kaniyakumari to explore on my list.

I could have entered Kerala from Tirunelvelli as the borders are very close I guess less than 45 KMS. Though this was a great geographical advantage I had, still I couldn't make that move. I felt that it wouldn't complete my all India bike ride motive if I didn't visit the southern most end of India.

So I clearly had two options in hand, one was to enter Kerala through Tirunelvelli and skip Kaniyakumari and the other was to ride to Kaniyakumari spend at least a day there and then enter into Kerala and I chose the latter option for the obvious reasons.

The ride from Tirunelvelli to Kaniyakumari was around 80 to 85 KMS and the weather as usual made it special for me. Before I knew it, I was riding through the highways lined up with hundreds of windmills on both sides. I have never seen so many windmills in my life until that moment. As it's the southern most end of India a person does not need any direction assistance as we would only end up looking at the vastness of the ocean by the end of the road.

I had reached the end of the road and all I could see was the ocean and I found out that this is the place where the Arabian sea, bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean confluence together. And also the fact that this is the end of the road of our country if one keeps riding south. It was actually a weird feeling that I had while standing there, staring at the ocean. I do not know for some reason i couldn't accept the fact that it was the end of the road south.

I wanted to step into the ocean just to prove a point to myself that this is not the end but ya again for obvious reasons I didn't do that, instead I put on my gear ,hit on the gas, looked west and kept riding.
