As I sat down for dinner in a dark room, I was already filled with curiosity about what Dineamation, is all about. The talented team at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore assured guests that all's well and it's a part of the experience. So I decided to keep an open mind. The entire experience began with an orientation presented by the team at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore. The team is specially trained to take you through this luxury meal and help you meander through the theatrics that are at play over your plate. The room was dimly lit and we were gently invited by the Queen of Hoshena, the protagonist who leads the fairytale dinner. The story begins in a magical kingdom and the Queen is by our side, narrating details of her colourful kingdom. While we focused on the enthralling story, food appears mysteriously in a little gift box. The menu is purposely hidden, so you can take your senses on a journey too - one where you figure out textures, flavours and smells throughout the seven-course meal that's nothing short of marvelous.
The meal and the story both progress wonderfully, as the Queen of Hoshena unravels clues, curses and curates dishes that are placed on 'talking plates' besides dancing fairies and streams of water that appear on the table. The immersive experience also invites diners to partake in the entire display of light and sound, each time encouraging you to place a hand under a light or summon smoke that seems to reveal a course that's so delicious, you wonder if the fairies are really cooking up a delightful meal behind the scenes.
The food that's being served is nothing short of amazing. The chefs of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore create beautiful dishes with the choicest ingredients, decadent flavours and wonderful textures that match perfectly with the Queen of Hoshena's narration. Whether it's morel mushrooms topped with a silver leaf, lamb that's perfectly cooked, lobster that'll make you drool or innovative Chaats that are a combination of elements that are traditionally Indian but served in a contemporary manner, the seven-course meal is wholesome, has large portions and is so delicious, it's magic on a plate, course after decadent course!
