Flight From Delhi to Cairo International Airport. In the evening we attended the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and enjoyed the history of the ancient Egyptians. The show begins with the story of the Sphinx who has been the vigilant guardian of the Pyramids for five thousand years.
Then we visited to Alexandria in which we visited the Citadel of Qaitbay which is situated at the entrance of the eastern harbour on the eastern point of the Pharaohs Island. It was erected on the exact site of the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Later we proceeded to visit Bibliotheca Alexandrina which is a major library and cultural center. Overnight at the hotel in Cairo.
During today’s guided city tour of Cairo we saw the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, as well as the Sphinx, carved from the natural bedrock at the bottom of the causeway to Khafre’s pyramid.
Thereafter we visited an Egyptian Perfumery, before proceeding to the Egyptian Museum, which houses over 1,00,000 antiquities from every period of ancient Egyptian history. Do not miss the gallery featuring the famous treasures of Tutankhamun.
Another highlight of this Museum is the Royal Mummies Room, which houses the mummies of many great Egyptian rulers, including Ramses II, the builder of the temples at Abu Simbel.
Later we stopped at the medieval market of Khan- El-Khalili where you can shop for spices, precious stones and curios. Overnight in Cairo.
Today we take a flight to Aswan. On arrival, we take a luxurious and legendary Nile River Cruise for a great three-day cruise on the scenic Nile River. We took an excursion of Hot Air Balloon ride (wow experience it was) .
Today we proceeded to Abu Simbel by coach (3.30 am departure) to view the two magnificent temples, carved into a mountainside and built during the reign of Pharaoh Pamesses II. These temples were threatened by submersion in Lake Nasser, due to the construction of the High Dam. During the salvage operations they were dismantled and raised over 60 meters up on the sandstone cliff where they had been built over 3,000 years before.
Then we returned to board our cruiser for lunch and sail on to Kom Ombo to visit the famous Temple of Kom Ombo, overlooking the Nile. This unique temple is the fusion of two temples set side by side, with each side having its own gateways and chapels. The left side of the temple is dedicated to Haroeris, the falcon-headed God and the right side is dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile-headed God of Fertility. Overnight board the Nile Cruise.
Next, enjoy the sights of the Nile River from the deck, as your Nile River Cruise sails to Luxor. Meanwhile take an excursion to a Nubian village by a camel ride, where we got scolding from the master while we were learning egyptian language.
Today we finished our cruise and visited the West Bank of Luxor. We proceeded deep into the desert to discover the Valley of Kings - where generations of pharaohs and nobles were buried in great splendour.
We then explored the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt’s only woman Pharaoh.
After that comes a visit to Karnak Temple Complex, known as Ipet-isu (or ‘most select of places’) to the ancient Egyptians. It is a city of temples built over 2,000 years and covers about 200 acres (1.5 km by 0.8 km). The great temple at the heart of Karnak is so big that St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Milan Cathedral and Notre Dame Cathedral would fit within its walls.
Then we visited Colossi of Memnon.
