Any Hill station like Ooty, Wayanad, Munnar are better choices from the South part of India, and when you ask from the North part, Mussorie, Nainital, Shimla are the best choice only if you are not expecting snow. You can drive the ghat road from Dehradun to Mussorie and enjoy the scenery. If you like valleys, Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh will be a great choice... other places like Coorg, Kodaikanal are some places people like to Visit during summer as the forest gives you some cool breezes

Hi You can go to any hill station in summer: Shimla, Manali, Mussoorie, Nainital, Kufri, Kasauli, Kausani, Mcleodganj, Ooty, Coorg, Kashmir.
You can also go to Kerela or Pondicherry.
Manali-Shimla has been one of the famous family destination.
If you want to avoid crowd , you can visit Mcleodganj- Dharamsala .
Also Kashmir can be a good option.
For family holidays in summer you can consider going to Uttarakhand - Nainital, Mussurie, rishikesh, ranikhet, Jim Corbett
South India- ooty, koidaikanal
Himachal Pradesh- Manali, shimla, dharmshala
I won't suggest Kashmir due to safety reasons.
