This adorable retreat is part of Nahan town which lies in the Sirmaur district on Himachal Pradesh. Other places of interest around Kangojodi are the Renuka Lake and Parshuram Temple. Hindy mythology associates this place to the legends of Prashuram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. the shape of the lake is also said to resemble the silhouette of a woman and an embodiment of Renuka, Parashuram’s mother. At the foot of the lake lies a small pool that is said to be an embodiment of Parshuram, son of Renuka and sage Jamadagini and a temple dedicated to Renuka. Renukaji Lake is around 40km from Kangojodi.

How to reach Kangojodi?

Located around 290 km from the National Capital, New Delhi, Kangojodi and 105 km from the state Capital Shimla, Kangojodi is a relatively less popular destination. Hence public transport is not abundantly available.

Air: The nearest airport is Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport at Chandigarh International Airport (IXC) which is nearly 82 km away from Kangojodi. The Chandigarh airport receives direct and connecting flights from major cities of India.

Road: There are buses that run towards Nahan. One may take interstate or private tourist buses to reach Kangojodi. Since bus service is infrequent, tourists may drive their personal vehicles or rent a car to travel to the destination. The camp site can be accessed via a dirt track 3 kilometres after the left turn from the Kangojodi 47 milestone on the Shimla-Nahan highway.

Rail: Ambala, Barog and Solan railway stations are the nearest terminals to reach Nahan and Kangojodi. Tourists may take a taxi or a bus to reach your desired location in Nahan therefrom.
