All you need to know about Kashmir's famous Gondola Ride!!

Gulmarg Gondola ride is a joint venture of the J & K Government and French firm Pomagalski and has become the topmost attraction of Kashmir giving you breathtaking views of snow covered mountains , the bird eye views of the Kashmir paradise and the purity of nature.

It is Asia's largest and World's second largest Cable car system taking you to a height of 3750 m above sea level.

The details of the Ride:

➡️The cable car ride takes place in two levels/stages.

Phase I: from the Gulmarg resort to Kungdhoor (2600 m) in the bowl-shaped Kongdori Valley which takes 9 minutes to reach.

Phase II: Starts from Kungdhoor to Apharwat (3747 m), the shoulder of Apharwat Peak and takes 12 minutes

➡️Ticket : Phase 1 ticket is of Rs. 700 per person.

Phase 2 ticket is of Rs. 900 per person ( tickets prices are for two way journey)

If you want to avoid the rush and don't want to wait in the long queues for the tickets, the same can be booked online also from the website

➡️You can take the ticket of Phase 2 from phase 1 also. So it is advisable that after reaching phase 1, enjoy the views of beauty of Kashmir from the top and decide whether you want to go to the next level or not.

➡️ Due to very high altitude it's gets very cold there. So please carry enough winter stuff to cover yourself specially caps and gloves.

➡️ Timings: The Gondala cable network timings are 10-5pm and are subject to change keeping in view the weather conditions. If you have to cover both levels then it's better to go early. Because after 3pm, tickets to the second level are not issued.

➡️Skiing at the top: A small skiing activity takes place at the top of second level on the old snow at the slope of the mountain. A bit risky affair and is highly costly / overpriced. You are bound to rent jump suites , gum boots to have 20 second skiing fun and shell approx 2500 per person for the rent of equipment, the ride. Not advisable for people with heart diseases or fear of heights.
