I recently went to Tons Valley and after I posted about it on my instagram, many of you had questions related to the Valley. I have tried to answer few questions related to Tons Valley.
Where exactly is the Tons Valley?
The Tons Valley is a major valley in the far northwestern region of the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in India. It is named after the Tons River which has carved the valley in these formidable mountains. It is an isolated region, hard to access and hence has remained cut-off from mainstream tourism.

What is there in the Tons Valley?
The Tons Valley is home to about 60 villages, a people with a unique cultural identity, and a wilderness region home to lots of wildlife and spectacular scenery.

Why does the Tons Valley need tourism?
Though stunningly beautiful, the Tons Valley is a terribly impoverished region with no access to the mainstream economy. Tourism offers an easy path for the local communities in this region to quickly add a means of income to their lives with a very short learning curve. Tourism will also enable positive linkages which will soon allow other means of livelihood to flourish in this region.
