Nearest Railway Station: Malavli.
Those who are coming from Mumbai, board a train to Pune and get down at Malavli. INDRAYANI EXP(22105) is a suitable train to reach Lonavala on the morning, and 2S is available on the same train. Then get a local train to Pune and get down at Malavli station, first local station in the Pune side.
Those who are coming from Pune side, board a local train to Lonavala and get down at Malavli station.
Bhaja Caves are a group of 22 rock-cut caves dating back to 200 BC. The caves are located 3 KM away from the Malavli station and are on the side of the paved road going to Lohagad fort. There is a beautiful waterfall, Bhaja Waterfalls, before the Caves.
The next itinerary, Visapur Fort, is located on the hill above the Bhaja Caves. One has to trek 4 KM from the caves to reach Visapur Fort. Just before reach plateau where the fort is located, you can see a big waterfall. The water is flowing through the steps.
Lohagad fort is located 3 KM away from the Visapur fort. One has to trek down to the other side of the Vispaur fort, and then 30 minutes walk to reach the bottom of the Lohagad Fort. It will take 25 minutes to reach the top of the fort.
The total trekking distance is 13.5 KM and can be easily completed in a day (~8 Hours). Shared vehicles are available from the base of Lohagad Fort to Malavli railway station.
