“Let’s go on an adventure trip” was the only thought that was in my mind while planning for my next trip. I knew I had to visit this place with whomsoever and in whatsoever conditions. Started with a different group and when the final day arrived we were just two girls. It had to be a crazy adventure trip. We had no bookings done except for the Bungee jumping.
This was a trip of lifetime and equally thrilling we booked the train tickets for Ranchi to Raxaul a day night journey and next evening we were at Raxaul. The train journey has always been fun being friends with co passengers and playing with kids around.
That evening we were at Raxaul and thanks to the co passengers they helped us to get a rickshaw and reach the bus stand. It was fun walking beside the abandoned railway track and get the rickshaw to go to Birganj, the buses for Kathmandu plies from here.
First thing first you need to stay connected to home and inform them about your whereabouts so we searched for a mobile shop to get a local sim.
Note: to get a local sim one has to have passport and photo.
The bus left at 8:00 pm and next morning we were at Kathmandu and during the journey we booked the hotel room at Thamel.
Thamel is the commercial center and has many hotels around within the area. It is famous among the trekkers coming form various places around the world. This place is cozy and safe and as we went in the narrow alleys we felt like a whole new different world.
As we reached Thamel by 7:00 am we had missed the bus going to the Last Resort which is at Tatopani which is close to the Tibetan boarder and the spot for all the adventure sports. We freshened up at The Trekker's home and then went to the office and asked them to help us get a cab. Unfortunately there was a strike and the cabs and buses were not running around the city. Therefore we went to a travel agent and asked for a cab , luckily we got on and we left by 11:00 am . The Last Resort staff was really helpful as we gave us the contacts of the locals and the staff at Tatopani.
Note: For the bungee jumping or swing make sure you do the prior booking and check with the dates as to which days they do the jumps.
Finally we headed towards the destination as this was what we were here for. On way we saw the ravishing river Bhutekosi and also could see the devastation caused in the 2015 Nepal earthquake. there were stretches where the roads have gone away or are buried and the entire journey was even though bumpy but showed the bright as well as the devastation side of nature.
Finally we reached The Last Resort yes it was the last resort or the last stop for us. I was too excited to see the suspension bridge and people on it going for swing. Soon we were on that bridge which is like 160 meter above the ground and down beneath was the wild river Bhote kosi. What a thrilling view and I was so super excited to do the jump.
I went running to the jumping spot. That long suspension bridge and the deck protruding out which is the jump deck.
First we had to fill up the forms and then get the health check and then back on the bridge. Within few minutes we were geared up and ready for the jump. The staff and the instructor were too helpful and I loved the chat session with them. They gave all the instructions very well and I heard them carefully.
The time was here. That one dream , that one wish another one in the bucket list. I was not at all scared but I was only super excited. After all this was what I was here for.
Standing on the deck I could only thank God for this day. I had one line running in my head said by the instructor: "Dive like a dolphin and fly like a bird". And then I jumped what a superb experience it was.
Hanging down before I was pulled up I had the best view of the valley. That was fun.
Archana di even though scared she too did the bungee jump. I love her for that. Then headed to the resort for the lunch and we enjoyed moving around a little in the resort. Here's a little glimpse and next time I'm staying here for sure.
So now it was time to get back to the city once back it was dark and we needed a good coffee. It was late and the shops were closed yet we moved around as the area was really safe and serene. We went to a restaurant named 'Jatra cafe' and had awesome coffee and then enjoyed a stroll on the streets of Thamel as we could here the melodious songs coming from the various music clubs around.
That night was a sound and relaxing one, next morning we had to leave by evening. So we decided to move around and shop a little in the day time.
This structure once stood tall and today it all in ruins. The nature can bless and also can destroy.
These were one of the best corners for shopping.
That evening my 6:30 we left the city and before that we had the best view in the world. It was the super-moon day and we saw the sun going down and reflecting its read beam on the snow capped Himalayas and on the other side the Super-moon rising brightening the Himalayan ranges. It was one unique view and best experiences.
