Doddabetta Peak Reviews

My first destination was Doddabetta. It is the highest point in Ooty. The govt runs a special tourism 'Circuit Bus' in which you have to purchase ticket once and you can travel for the whole day. Its a chain of buses running in certain interval of time. I reached Doddabetta at about 10 am and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. From here one can view the entire Ooty city, Wellington, Love dale etc. You have restaurants near by and few souvenir shops. Headed back in the same Circuit bus I reached the city, had my dinner. I then headed to Botanical garden. I was amazed to see this. Lots of plants, rather than lots its variety of plants trees. Its one of it in the country. Finishing my dinner and roaming the city I headed back to hotel.Day 8: (Back to Coimbatore by Nilgiri Railways) Its pack up time. I was heading to Coimbatore from where I have booked my ticket to Chennai in KPN B9R. Initially I thought i will take a bus. But while walking to bus stand the railway station struck me and made me to think "I have tried Shimla toy train. Let me try this one too - Nilgiri toy train". I went to the counter and surprised no one was there. I enquired, till now no one has came. So I was the first person. Kept my backpack there and sat aside. Slowly the queue stretched as the time to open the counter neared. I was the first to get the ticket. I asked for a reservation but he told reservations are full and current ticket is from Ooty to till Connor. Ok. Anyway within short notice I managed to get a ticket is a big achievement for me. The train powered by an environment friendly diesel engine. The journey was awesome. Tunnels, bridges I reached Connor. From Connor the real adventurous train journey starts. The bogies are cut shortened to 3. From here the train climbs using a teeth gear system as assistance. After finishing my lunch at Connor, I boarded a bus to Mettupalayam. From there another bus to Coimbatore. Finally by 9 pm I reached omnibus stand. At 11.45 pm my journey towards Chennai commenced.
Our next spot of this journey is Doddabetta peak. The highest point of the district of 2623 m. One can see as far as the plains of Coimbatore and Mysore, if climate is clear. But it was our hard luck that the day was foggy hence we were not able to see. We enjoyed the heights with some snacks..so,gradually the dawn mets and we finishes our day with slight walk in botanical garden. This is famous garden maintained by horticulture department of government. Garden is full of variety of charming plants. Many different kinds of roses, eucalyptus and several old fossilised trees are living where you can actually depict dreamland......... This how we finishes our day. At last We went to bus stand and caught a bus to return back to Bangalore. I really hope that i have given you sweet reasons to visit this paradise... Trip to Ooty is definitely a best way to recharge your batteries. Till then..Happy tripping!!!! Next day, we had breakfast at our hotel, and then took off to our first location, which was the Doddabetta Peak. Doddabetta is the highest peak in the Nilgiri Hills at 2,637 metres. There is a reserved forest area around the peak. The observatory atop the peak offer 360-degree panoramic views of the picturesque surroundings. On the way back we went to the Tea Museum and Factory. They showed us each and every step in the manufacturing of Tea. They have made the arrangement for purchasing the variety of Teas. Behind the tea factory there are stalls, where they sell handmade chocolates. Both tea and handmade chocolatesare popular indulgence in Ooty. We came back to our room had lunch and rested for some time. Then we took of to Botanical Garden which was about 2 km from where we stayed. The Botanical gardenin Ooty is home to many rare species of trees, some being the cork tree, the only one of its kind in India, the paperbark tree, the monkey puzzle tree and an old fossilized tree estimated to be 20 million years old. We did spent some quality time there, ate some street food, and did some street shopping. Then went back to our rooms, had dinner and that's how our second day came to an end.
The first stop was Doddabetta, which is the highest mountain in the Nilgiris hills and approximately 10 kms from Ooty. This place seems something out of a magazine and loved it. We got 30 minutes here before we leave for the next stop. We explored the place by walking and keeping an eye on the time as well. We also had some good masala tea, which was amazing. On the way toward the next stop, we took a pit stop in one of the tea plantation near by and learnt some more about tea and how it is made. I bought like 5-6 different types of tea which included; masala tea, strawberry tea, normal tea, green tea etc.
One can reach Doddabetta by travelling towards Kothagiri either by bus or taxi. Doddabetta tea factory is not to be missed travelling enroute. You can encounter experience of tea leaves being processed through various stages and being packed right in front of your eyes and at the end of visit being served with a cuppa chai. There is even a factory outlet from when you can purchase tea leaves if desired. While trip to Doddabetta will only take half day, rest of the day can be spent by exploring #1. Ooty Botanical Gardens : Where one can find around thousand variety of flora. #2. Deer Park #3. Rose Garden #4. Emerald Lake #5. Ooty Museum #6. Ooty Lake
