In our Last Blog, we have explained you the process and documents need to apply for Europe tourist visa.

"How to get Schengen Tourist Visa - Full Process and Documents - India to Europe"

After getting our final entry stamps on our passports in OSLO, we were so excited to meet our family and explore Oslo, Norway.

We took metro from Airport to Kalbakken where Radhika's brother and his wife lives with their two children.

Best part was, it was Easter festive season and luckily we got to see snow covered Oslo due to fresh heavy snowfall. After reaching home, we were so happy to meet everyone of them after a long time, specially our both cute little nieces. We all enjoyed the dinner and chatted a lot till late night. Its always so good to catch-up with dear ones after long time.

We woke up early in the morning with the beautiful snow fall outside and it just made our first morning in OSLO the most beautiful and pleasant morning, we were so happy to see the welcome with such beauty, we stayed in balcony to enjoy the "Hot Morning Tea"... still every memory is so fresh in mind.

Day 1

"Day 1"

HOLMENKOLLEN - Skiing Arena

We did our breakfast and in noon we started our day trip in Oslo and first stop to visit was Holmenkollen which is a Nordic skiing and biathlon venue. So we took metro from Kalbakken to Majorstuen and from there we changed another metro to finally reach Holmenkollen. The metro ride was so beautiful due to fresh snowfall in morning all the houses and trees our way were covered with white sheet of snow,it was so pleasing to eyes.

We reached Holmenkollen, which is famous for its Large ski jumping hill . This place is also having a ski museum in which is located underneath the famous ski jump. It is one of the oldest of its kind in the world.

The museum presents more than 4,000 years of skiing history, Norwegian polar exploration artifacts and an exhibition on snowboarding and modern skiing. It also has a cafe and souvenir shop. This places has hosted several big ski events like 1952 Winter Olympics.

Ticket price for an Adult is 150 Norwegian krone /- and is open around the year.

The observation deck on top of the jump tower offers panoramic views of Oslo. And be sure it give one of the most beautiful view of Oslo city ... we loved the view from this deck.

TRYVANNSTARNET - Broadcasting Tower

After spending beautiful time and clicking lots of photos in Holmenkollen, we went to visit Tryvannstarnet, which is a 118-metre tall broadcasting tower near Oslo, located 529 metres above mean sea level on the summit of Tryvannshøyden hill overlooking lake Tryvann.

There we saw a bunch of people skiing and recording videos for their own YouTube channels.

AKER BRYGGE

We decided to go Aker Brygge, which is known for its pier, where eateries with outdoor tables serve upscale Nordic and French cuisine, or casual fare like burgers and steak.

But as soon as we reached there, snow started soon. So we enjoyed for some time roaming around this place and then left for our home to complete our first memorable day in Oslo.

It was so much travel and walk for Day 1, that we wanted to desperately sleep and wake up fresh next day to start our Day 2 trip to Oslo city.

"Day 2"

After a long sleep of more then 10 hours, we woke up and enjoyed the yummy breakfast made by our own genius chef "Komal Bhabhi" .

On Day 2, we decided to visit Frogner Park first.

We took metro to Majorstuen which is very near to Frogner Park.

Day 2

FROGNER PARK

It is a public park located in the West End borough of Frogner in Oslo, Norway. The park is historically part of Frogner Manor, and the manor house is located in the south of the park, and houses Oslo Museum.

It contains, in its present centre, the Vigeland installation , a permanent sculpture installation created by Gustav Vigeland between 1924 and 1943. It consists of sculptures as well as larger structures such as bridges and fountains. The installation is not a separate park, but the name of the sculptures within the larger Frogner Park.

The sculpture area in Frogner Park covers 80 acres and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures of full human figures, all designed by Gustav Vigeland. the artist agreed to donate all originals of previous and future artistic work to the city. That is why this park is also sometimes informally named as "Vigeland Park".

This place is beautiful all around the year and a must visit for all people visiting Oslo.

It also has Norway's biggest collection of roses, a total of 14,000 plants of 150 different species which blooms in the season and that time of the year the beauty of this park is at its peak.

You can also enjoy the cafe inside the park.

No tickets required for this place.

After spending quality time here we went to our next stop

The Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is one of the country’s most important buildings. The palace is the official residence of the current Norwegian monarch. The palace is located at the end of Karl Johans gate in central Oslo and is surrounded by the Palace Park. It can be seen from Karl Johans street and looks amazing.

The building is in neo-classical style with a façade of stuccoes brick, and was completed in 1849.

The Royal Palace Park surrounds the palace on all sides and features grassy areas, majestic trees, small ponds and statues.

We finished Day 2 and came back home with so many memories.

Day 3

So finally a sunny day and the first one in Oslo for us. To utilize this sunny day we decided to visit Oslo Opera House and near by areas…

OSLO OPERA HOUSE

Day 3

Oslo's Opera House is located right at the harbor, with an angled, white exterior that appears to rise from the water. It invites its visitors to climb its roof and enjoy panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord, all year round.

Just near the Opera House is "Astrup Fearnley Musset" - Its a museum of modern art has opened on a stunning waterfront site in the Tjuvholmen. The design of the glass roof strongly looks stunning . Its curved shape crosses the canal between the buildings.

Large-scale windows at street level provide the public with glimpses of rehearsals and workshop activities. The building's interior is mainly oak, and the main hall is shaped like a horseshoe, reminiscent of classical theaters of the past. The opera is designed by the Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta, and has received several prestigious awards.

Oslo Harbor just off the shore of the Oslo Opera House is the "She Lies", The floating stainless steel and glass sculpture. It was designed and created by Italian artist Monica Bonvicini. It was based on painting "The Sea of Ice" .

There are some other places as well to visit in OSLO, NORWAY…
