This is one of the nine historical Gurudwaras in Delhi. A Gurudwara is a place of worship for Sikhs, however people of all faiths are welcomed in the Sikh gurudwara. This gurudwara was first established in 1783 to commemorate the martyrdom site the ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tek Bahadur who was beheaded by the orders of Mughal emporer, Aurangazeb in 1675 AD, for refusing to convert into Islam. It's one of the most beautiful holy places in Purani Dilli. I loved sitting in the prayer hall and listening to the continuing Gurubani (sikh holy songs) for a good twenty minutes.
