Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trekking

Anuj Khandelwal
We woke up early in order to cover the maximum distance and experience the snow trekking as much as possible. We knew it won't be easy buy hey 'the best view comes after the hardest climb'. Chopta is enriched in flora and fauna, we drove to starting point of trek and started our trek to Tungnath.Trek was of 5 KM and trekking difficulty level was tough. It has stone paved path across the route till Tungnath all covered with heavy snow. White ocean as far as one can see. The degree of difficulty increased due to slippery portions of the trek, many people fall prey to the to the nature of snow.En-route Tungnath surprises with many amazing views. Tungnath temple opens in April or May each year and closed during the winter season. We took almost 2.5 hrs to reach to Tungnath temple.

Once again, early morning wake up alarm rang and its time to get ready for the next adventure and the final part of our Journey. We all got ready in no time as the water was too cold and it was not good to use it. We had light breakfast and started for Tungnath Temple, which is the highest temple of Lord Shiva. It's a 4 km trek and slightly more difficult than our last day's experience. Jaimin was completely under shock as it was his first time into the mountains with so much hectic trekking. We have completed the first km in no time s we all were full of energy and then suddenly it started raining. Now look for a shelter. Luckily, we have found some villagers sitting inside a small tent with a small bonfire. Raining stopped after an hour and we again started. Then it was drizzling throughout our trek and somehow all of us maintained our pace and reached The Tungnath Temple.

The thought of trekking in the laps of Himalayas always sounds fascinating. Where some places are great for fabulous holidays and then there are few places that you can never forget for lifetime. One such place is Chopta, Tugnath trek.
