At the peak of Jaipur- Nahargarh Fort

22nd Jul 2019
Day 1

I started from my place by 8 am. Reached to the chora Rasta by 8:30 and stopped by for quick bites. I had a cup of sahu's special tea and a plate of special paneer poha from Shri Balaji poha center!

On my way to Nahargarh fort, I have seen the beautiful Hawa Mahal and the magnificent Jal Mahal from out side and if I be honest, these two monuments are beautiful from outside only. So, one can avoid buying tickets for these two.

Nahargarh forts opens by 10am. This fort is situated at the highest point of jaipur and it is scenic and a memorable drive till there. This 9 km drive from ground to the fort is completely filled with greenery, hill curves and wildlife. On the way to Nahargarh, there is another fort which comes to your way and that is Jaigarh fort- Home for the world's largest cannon. This fort will not take more that 1 hour of your time.

While you start coming up to Nahargarh fort from jaigarh fort, you will experience some of the most scenic sites of Rajasthan. There is point from where you can see the top view of Jalmahal which is breathtaking.

On your way to Nahargarh from jaigarh, there is another attraction called Charan mandir which has a history of lord krishana. This temple allows you to worship the foot marks of Lord krishana.

After visiting all these places you will finally reach to the Nahargarh fort. This fort has some of the major attraction points which includes Jaipur Wax Museum and sheesh Mahal, Maghvendra place, City view point and step wall where Rang de basanti movie was shot.

Jaipur Wax Museum is the major attraction of Rajasthan. This museum is divided in three galleries namely Hall of Icons, Royal Darbar, and Sheesh Mahal. Hall of Icons showcases wax and silicon statues of iconic personalities from diverse fields such as history, cinema, sports, literature, art, and culture.  The statues of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Kaplana Chawla, Amitabh Bachchan, Mahatma Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar, Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama and many others are displayed in this gallery. The Royal Darbar is decorated with enchanting paintings that depict the rich heritage of Rajasthan. This courtroom displays paintings with pure gold motifs and wax statues of eminent rulers of the Rajput dynasty such as Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh and Rajmata Gayatri Devi. Sheesh Mahal has been designed into a magnificent mirror work splendor. It has traditional thikri mirror work and displays approximately 2.5 million glass pieces to create optical illusion.

The Madhavendra Bhawan, built by Sawai Madho Singh had suites for the queens of Jaipur and at the head was a suite for the king himself. The rooms are linked by corridors and still have some delicate frescoes. Nahargarh was also a hunting residence of the Maharajas.

As Nahargarh fort is the situated at the highest point of jaipur, you can have a 360 degree top view of entire Jaipur city which is rated as world's best panoramic city view.

With this best view of entire Jaipur city, I ended my trip to Nahargarh fort.
