I went to Shillong on 17th of February 2025 for some work, but this time it was in my mind to explore a cave for which I was longing for a long time. The cave is the Lymput Cave of Meghalaya which is situated on the southern side of the state. After finishing the work within 2 days on the 19th I started for Cherrapunji (Sohra) in the morning. Before that I talked with the homestay owner where I booked my stay, to arrange for my cave exploration, which he did instantly without any delay and informed me. I reached Cherrapunji (Sohra) on time and after taking my lunch I rested for some time. I came to know that there would be no shop nearby to the cave so for taking some snacks I went to the once in a week market in Cherrapunji (Sohra). There I walked around the market and saw all the fresh items and products locals brought for sale. I took some local cakes and water for the cave and came back to the room. I had dinner and then I saw a cute cat which was there for food so I gave some food to the cat. Then suddenly I looked upwards and became very happy as the night was full of stars. In the cold night the sight was breathtaking as for people like us who live in cities these things are not possible. I became very happy and started to click some pictures of the starry night. The stay was only for one night so I spent some time like that under the starry night. After that I went to sleep as I needed energy for the early morning cave exploration but as it was my first time experience so the excitement was too much and as a result I could not sleep properly though I tried my best. In the morning I woke up early just as it was fixed at 6.15am and got ready. Then the owner gave me breakfast by 7 and the car with the guide came by 7.45am. I started for the destination of that day instantly. On the way they took their breakfast where I saw some monoliths and took their pictures. Then the journey started nonstop towards the cave. On the way I saw many natural and man-made beautiful things, scenery, trees, flowers etc etc The journey was very good. It took approx 1.30 hrs to reach there. After reaching there we had to walk for approx 500mtrs first down then upwards by stairs before reaching the entrance of the cave. Took little rest before entering the cave and then entered with the guide. At the time of entering many thoughts were going on in my mind but I entered with a positive mind and excitement. After entering I saw a big spider on a cave stone, it was not aggressive but the guide told me that it was poisonous. After leaving the spider in its place we moved forward. One thing I want to tell here is that the cave was totally dark as the light was not there and a ray of light could not enter the cave. We took a torch at a rate of 100rs from the person there which we used there. The formation of the cave was awesome and the rocks were awesome. Many ways were there in the cave which were not explored so did not go on that way. After that for an hour we went inside and then stopped as I was not feeling right as it was my first try. Then we came back outside and sat there for some time. After that started the trail towards the main road which took about 10 mins time. Like this I ended my first caving and the experience was awesome and mind blowing. I will never forget the experience.
