Best Kept Secret: Athoor Falls

Athoor Falls was a well-kept secret, largely unknown to the general public until the lockdown period. With most tourist places closed during the lockdown, this hidden gem came into the spotlight as local residents and nearby folks discovered it. Unfortunately, it seems that the falls have now been closed by the forest department due to safety concerns.

My brothers and I had made plans to visit Athoor Falls, located in the Dindigul district. When we arrived at the location marked on the map, we were clueless about where to find the falls. Seeking guidance, we approached some local residents who kindly directed us. They explained that we needed to reach a dam, park our bikes nearby, and commence a trek to reach the falls.

The trek turned out to be quite challenging; we had to navigate large rocks, making it a strenuous journey. Eventually, after overcoming these obstacles, we reached the falls. It was a memorable experience, and my brothers and I spent the entire day enjoying the natural beauty.

As evening approached, we decided to make our way back to the dam area, realizing that trekking through the dense forest at night would be too risky. We safely returned to our bikes and headed home. Overall, it was an adventurous one-day trip that we won't soon forget.
