Dzongu is a small town in North Sikkim bordering the Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve. It is not the tourist season in January, so you will find Dzongu comparatively empty and accommodations will be easily available. Go for an early morning trek with a local guide, you will be able to see the Kanchenjunga peak and the surrounding ridge line clearly covered with snow. You can go and see the Rongyung Chu River and the Tholung Monastery. There are many other attractions in Dzongu, such as the Lepcha Museum and Tingvong village. Tourists can get a permit from Sikkim.The nearest airport is in Bagdogra (IXB) close to Siliguri, from there you can hire a taxi up to Gangtok and it takes 5 hours to reach Dzongu from there. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), and you can take a taxi from there to Gangtok.Off-Season In February
