Sholapur in Maharashtra famous for being the top producer of cotton textiles in the state – you might have heard of the Solapuri Chaddar. It is blessed with picturesque sceneries and serene spots and houses one of the oldest forts of the country – the Bhuikot Castle. Also known as the Sholapur Fort, this architectural marvel was constructed in the 14th century. It's a great place to walk around and explore your surroundings. There is also an animal park inside with animals such as peacocks, rabbits, monkeys and others. For a spiritual experience, head to the Siddheshwar Temple. Surrounded by lakes on all four sides, this temple is a sight to behold. You can also relax and unwind at the Hipparga lake, which is blessed with calm blue waters and serves as an asylum for several migratory birds. Another lake, Yevati Lake, is one of the largest in the state and makes for a perfect picnic spot. Solapur falls on the rail line connecting Hyderabad to Mumbai. It is around 400km from Mumbai.
