Everest High Pass Trek

Everest High Pass Trek offers a complete and ultimate trekking experience in the region covering the Everest region and Gokyo region as well. More difficult trek than the classical Everest base camp trek, this involves ascend and descend in more rough and rocky terrain and perfectly matches the intent of the trekkers who wish to experience the challenge of the region. Climb to the challenging passes above 5000m, such as Cho La Pass (5380m), Renjo La Pass (5388m) and Kongma La Pass (5535m) and smaller peaks such as Gokyo Ri makes this trekking trail a dream challenge to the daredevils. Besides these challenges, in Everest Three Passes Trek, trekkers also explore the marvelous landscape usually not explored; observe the unseen side of Sherpa lifestyle and culture besides all other elements found in the classical trekking expedition in the region.

This challenging Everest High Pass Trek begins after a short and scenic flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region and trek to a popular stoppage place for trekkers in the area, the village of Phakding. Suspension bridges clad with colourful prayer flags, chortens, prayer wheels and stones, dense and colourful forest, a caravan of fellow trekkers and locals and the view of humongous mountains are common sights till we reach the colourful and vibrant Namche Bazaar. It is popular as the traditional market of inborn mountaineers, fascinating views of mountains and a perfect fit for acclimatization before proceeding for further adventure in the region. We branch off from the main trail to Everest Base Camp and head for Thame village and then to Nangpa valley under Everest Three Passes Trek. Accompanied by roaring Bhote Koshi River, we ascent up towards the Gokyo valley crossing over one of the passes , the Renjo La Pass (5388m) to reach the turquoise watered Gokyo Lakes and beautiful Gokyo village perched by one of the Gokyo lakes. Next will be the ascent to Gokyo Ri which provides a breathtaking view of the panoramic Himalayas including Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu and others besides the majestic Ngozompa Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. Everest Three Passes Trek further proceeds across the glacier and crosses another challenging Cho La Pass and head for iconic Kala Patthar and the ultimate destination of Everest Base Camp through Dzongla, Dughla Lobuche and other stoppages en route. After successful descent, we shall descent to Lobuche again and through the route from Marlung to Nangpa La and then to Thame, we rejoin the classical Everest Base Camp trail. Accompanied by Dudh Koshi River and looked over by the Himalayas we retrace our steps to Namche, Lukla and then to Kathmandu to complete the circuit of this trek.
