I was planning to go for the Harishchandragad trek for quite some time but was unable to do so due to Covid-19 . So finally the plan for trek got executed on the first day of New year 2022. I with my two school friends started from Mumbai on 1st January 2022.

Mumbai – Kasara – Rajur – Pachnai

Get into Mumbai CST to Kasara local train.

Once you reach Kasara Railway Station, you will find sharing jeeps and ST buses going to Rajur. sharing jeep charge around Rs.150(in 2020). It is around a 1 hour 45 minutes journey. (During our time there was a strike of ST buses)

From Rajur, one has to board the sharing jeep or a private vehicle to the village of Pachnai. Sharing jeep cost around Rs.50. Reach early to Rajur because it will be difficult to find a sharing transport in the late afternoon. From here, the way is straight to the topmost point. There are proper markings for routes wherever must be.

Harishchandragad trek is easiest from base village Pachnai. It takes around 1.30 to 2 hours to reach the top.

We had our tent along with us for camping rest assured to locals for dinner it costs around Rs. 150/person. You can collect wood for a bonfire along the way to the top or get it from locals who serve food, tent, blankets, etc.

My Experience: The difficulty level of the trek is easy. There are food stalls at the top and at short distances which will help to keep you hydrated. The best time to visit is in winter and Monsoon. If doing a night trek clothes for low temperature is a must.

A Good way to start a year
