Jabel Jais Mountains : Ras Al Khaimah UAE
This is one of the favorite driving destination for all driving enthuse of United Arab Emirates.
A perfect weekend gateway, Just 2.5 hours drive from Dubai. A place to unwind, long drive with lots of twist and turns, good music, and a bunch of like minded friends, no road is long with good company. Life is beautiful if you are on the road to somewhere and that somewhere for me is to Explore Jabel Jais Mountains SPECAILLY IN CHILLING WINTERS. So finally on one of the weekend some of my friends packed their bag pack filled the tank full with Petrol packed some chatar patar, Barbe Que material and left at 4pm from Dubai to the adventurous drive to Jabel Jais Mountains.
Its UAE's highest peak, Jebel Jais is part of the spectacular Hajar mountain range that were formed over 70 million years ago in the eastern part of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates and Oman. Towering at 1,934 m above sea level, Jebel Jais boasts breath-taking vistas and thrilling adventures for every visitor.
The views of the winding road through the deep rocky canyon of the mountain is truly breathtaking and a unique sight to behold. The Jebal Jais Viewing Deck Park allows you to experience the magic and take some splendid shots of the surroundings.
It's also home to the World's Longest Zipline, certified by the Guinness World Records ! Thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies will travel at speeds of up to 120kph to 150kph at a height of 1,680 metres above sea level on top of Jebel Jais mountain.
We reached the peak at around 8pm, as we got stuck in a traffic jam because of an accident.
We relaxed for an hour then started preparing for our Barbe Que dinner.
After the sumptous dinner we did some timepass playing Antakshari and dumb charades . It was a tiring drive but the roads are so scenic and beautiful we just love those never ending roads twist and turns. We did arrange some tents to sleep and finally within minutes we were in our dreamy world in deep sleep.
We woke up at 5 am to experience the beautiful sun rise and truly it was amazing, nature is my favorite colour, the sky was so beautiful with many shades of orange colour.
After the breakfast we packed our bags pushed all the stuffs in the car boot, but we carried the beautiful memories made in the mountains, going to stay for long in our heart with a promise will come back soon.......
HOW TO GET FROM DUBAI TO JEBEL JAIS
•The best way to get from Dubai to Jebal Jais is by car. It’s approximately a two-hour drive via Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) from Al Khail Road(D83).
• Make sure to fuel up and carry snacks and drinks along for the road.
•Jebel Jais is also a popular spot that attracts a lot of visitors during holidays such as Eid and UAE National Day. If you are looking to skip the crowds, try visiting the mountain during off-peak times.
•The Jebel Jais weather is 10 degrees colder than the normal ground temperature. It gets significantly cold while driving up to the mountain, especially in the evenings during winter months. So make sure to carry something to keep yourself warm.
•The weather during the day is pleasant with the warmth of the sun shining through. Carrying a light sweater is advised in case of sudden cold winds.
•There is no Jebel Jais entry fee applicable for visiting the mountain. However, you do need to pay for all the activities available at this adventure zone.
•Closed shoes/sports shoes are the ideal footwear when visiting the Jais Mountain in RAK. They are also pre-requisites if you are going trekking or on the zip line.
•Facilities such as parking spots, restaurants and washrooms are present at the viewing deck and zip line
•If you plan to barbecue or go camping at Jebal Jais make sure to carry all the necessary equipment like coal and lighter fluid as you won’t find supermarkets there.
•Toroverde Ras Al Khaimah is the company that manages the zip line, Via Ferrata and the ice rink. If you have made a booking for any of their attractions in Jebel Al Jais, just head to their dedicated parking lot 30 minutes prior to your session. From there, shuttle buses will take you to the right location.
