Location: Chikkaballapura, Karnataka
Altitude: Approximately 1450 metres
Trek Time: 2 hours (good fitness level)
Difficulty Level: Easy to moderate
The trek starts from Papagni Temple near the village of Kalwara. The previous days were bit rainy soo the path was bit muddy but thank God it isn't much slippery. we have to trek almost an hour and a bit more to reach the top. As we were climbing up the view was getting better and better. You can see the Kalwarbettar fortress right ahead of you during your trail. After walking through some dense foliage, you will reach the fortress, but the fun has just started. There are six such ruined fortresses which lead to the ancient temple at the top. The view throughout is glorious and along the trail, there are small samadhi caves where you can rest for a bit. There were people who were camping there from yesterday night to get the view of sunrise. unfortunately the day was cloudy so i didn't had any high hope about the Sun rise.
we reached the viewpoint which is around 200 mtrs down from the top, place had some visitors already and the view was amazing. As we accepted the fact that we are not gonna get a good view of Sun rise today due to the cloudy morning we spend more time in the view point and clicked a lot of pics and videos.
My yogi girls (Aishwarya & Bhavana) were so excited to pull out some advanced asanas to flaunt their flexibility there and ya people will love to get captured at such a beautiful view point. We can see clouds passing very near by from there and it was an experience to relish.
After spending enough time we went up to top, the wind was blowing really hard there. There was a small temple on top, we spend some time there. Took some snaps, enjoyed the view then we started our way back. we reached below by around 10 am and by noon we entered Bangalore City. Skandagiri is an ideal place to choose if you are planning anything for your weekends.

Skandagiri is one of the beautiful trekking spots at the outskirts of Bangalore which we can easily cover in a day. My plan to go to skandagiri was a sudden one, two of my other friends invited me to join them a day before and without any prior planning and preparation I jumped in. I took two of my friends Aishwarya and Bhavana also, trekking gang was ready. we started early morning around 3 so that we can reach the top to view the Sun rise. It is the same route which we take to reach Nandi hills but instead of taking the diversion for Nandi hills from Highway you have to travel further infront. Once you are away from Highway, you will experience a nice off road drive. we reached around 4:45 AM there, have to give an entry fees of around 250 to the forest guards, there is a forest reception counter for that.
