Some Offbeat Places In Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is the related to most religious tourism in India. But this Himalayan state is blessed with some amazing hill stations which are tucked in the roots of Himalaya's. That's why our "Dev Bhoomi" is blessed. These hills are stations are perfect for all kind of travelers and also these are not in main stream of tourism. One can enjoy a break from urban cities by looking into nature without much tourist.

1) Munsiyari

Meaning literally translates to "A place of snow" which is quite right for the place. Munsiyari always surrounded by snow clad mountains all around the year. It is located in Pitoragarh district, it is one of the those places from where you can get view of snow mountains every time of the year. It is located at 2300 meters above the sea level and have some amazing treks and camping spots. This is a truly hidden gem in Kumaon Hills.

2) Lohaghat

This place is named after Lohawati river with goes through the village. Lohaghat is famous for it's sunflower plantation which is at it's peak in spring season. The flora is so diverse here, people tend to compare it with Kashmir. If you are here, take a trek to Abbott mountain which still holds a 19th century haunted church at the top. A perfect blend of haunted nature.

3) Khirsu

This is one of the nearest place from capital city of Uttarakhand. To reach this majestic but tiny city you have to travel 92 kms. It give a spectacular view of 300kms of Himalayas, which includes Trishul Devi, Nanda Devi, Nandakot, and Panchchuli peaks. It is a perfect place to detox yourselves with a paranomic view of beautiful mountians and fragrance of wildflowers, herbs and lush green forest is cherry on the top.

4) Patal Bhuneshwar

This place is now a hotspot for rappelling because of some amazing locations. Town is located 1350 meters above the sea level and host some of the ancient houses with Shiva temple. To reach some of the temples one need to rappel about 100 fts and then pass through narrow tunnel. On the way, there are stunning limestone stalactite and stalagmite formations, a geographical wonder inside a historical one!

5) Chaukori

This village is like a bowl within the heart of Himalays. It is located approx 75 kms away from Nainital. This village is blessed with untouched beauty of nature, fruits orchids and pine forests. You will be able to get uninterrupted views on Nanda Devi and Panchuchuli Hills from any where in Chaukori. While you are here, will be witnessing golden hours when snow capped mountains turns golden during sunrise and sunset.
