Courmayeur is an author's dream and a poet's paradise. It is frequented by the rich and also the not-so-affluent, yet, it showers both with equal amount of love and warmth. When in Courmayeur, especially during the summers which are not like the activity-laden winters, make sure that you find yourself a nice place to stay because no matter what, you will be spending a lot of time indoors, often by the fireplace. While the village has some good hotels, I would suggest that you rent one of the many mountain homes of locals who have moved to metropolises for work. The one that I was staying in defined 'cosy' in ways like no other and was also luxurious at the same time. The icing on the cake was the bookshelf I discovered in my room which contained titles that had been on my reading list for ages. My idea of a perfect vacation had finally been realised. Getting there: Savda Buses running from Turin/Milan terminate at Aosta from where you have another hour long ride to Courmayeur. Booking your tickets online is the best idea and they range from 10 to 15 Euros. Always remember to carry a print out of your ticket before boarding the bus. There are faster train connections as well, but they involve a lot of changes and you ultimately have to get into a bus at Pre-Saint-Didier, therefore, a direct bus ride should be smoother, especially if you have a lot of luggage with you. The journey could take up to 5 hours.

Day 7: Next day we moved to Zurich, stayed at hotel there was early morning flight for Mumbai from Zurich Airport. So, in short we had only few hours to explore Zurich .After hotel checkin we left for Rhine Falls, the biggest waterfall in Europe. The view was mesmerizing. Bought some chocolate and souvenirs from there and left for Zurich old market. We reached bit late as all shops get closed by 7 in the evening. Enjoyed coffee and evening life of Zurich. Roamed around the streets, cafe and market (which was closed) by the lake side. After sunset reached back to Hotel, had dinner and did packing as we were suppose to leave early morning to catch our flight.

Italy is just round the corner from French Riviera and therefore we decided to make the best use of our schengen visa. We took a train and headed to the Italian town of Ventimiglia. It's just a small train ride away. From eating oysters to digging in pasta- we did that in one day and we were pretty kicked about it. The moment you cross the border, you will notice a stark difference between the French and the Italian culture. Just within a few miles, you see a difference in food, textures, flavours, language, people. We entered a bustling market selling local fruits, vegetables and flowers. The prices are generally lower than what you will find across the French border. Do find time to devour some sinful local risotto, spaghetti and pasta and end your meal with a heavenly tiramisu.
