Day 1

PETRA : The Lost City, A Wonder of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage site was built in the 4th century BC by the Nabateans tribe in Jorden.

It was definitely a trip to remember, since everything in this trip was unplanned even the place,PETRA. We decided to go there on the recommendation of the owner of  Hotel Amman Orchid, who also helped us in planning the trip.

The next day after our breakfast we started around 8.30 am from our hotel with our amazing Italian driver/guide Mr.Audley. The best route from Amman to Petra is by the Desert Highway (Highway 15), this takes about 2.5-3.00 hours and covers 143 miles (Around 230kms).

Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world's most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. This fascinating ancient Nabatean capital dominated the Arabian trade routes, and is a must see in the Middle East. You will pass the Siq, a narrow gorge where you get the first close views of the colorful sandstone, ending at the beautiful Treasury. Walk along the Street of Facades to The Royal Tombs, The Theater and Qasr Al Bint.
