Built in 1629, Simtokha Dzong(fortress) is an ancient architecture marvel, Buddhist monastery, and today it houses one of the premier learning institute for monks.
This majestic Dzong is built up of while brick and stone walls, wooden roof and colourful wooden windows with artistic carvings on them.
Another reason which motivated me to paint this, was my interaction with some of the monks and how from a very young age, they dedicate their lives to spirituality and meditation leaving all the worldly pleasures to free themselves from the sufferings. They provide a living example for all the humans to lead life with simplicity, respect all living beings equally and live without the materialistic possessions.
It was one of the most peaceful places l have ever been to, a treat for eyes, ears and soul.
