You could plan a day trip to Githoorn from Amsterdam. There are many websites which have these trips available. One day trip from Amsterdam will cost you around Rs. 7,000. You could alternatively go to Zaanse Schaans. It is almost equally pretty as Githoorn and will cost you nothing since you can reach there using the local transport system (we used a travel card for the public transport) Things to do in Amsterdam: -Heineken Factory tour (if you like beer): Rs. 1,500 per person approx -Red Light District: Free -A'DAM lookout: Rs. 1,500 per person approx -City Canal cruise: Rs. 1,000 per person approx -Van Gogh museum (if an art connoisseur): Rs. 1,500 per person approx Amsterdam is a lovely city with canals on almost every street - just walk around Dam Square and enjoy the vibe. You'll also be able to try the local delicacies - must have the Stroopwaffle!! Hey, I am dipan First of all I want to tell you that i understand why you don't like packages as packages are boring because everything will be scheduled and you have to run according to them! And yes I am also planning to travel to sikkim and I have made a short tour route to what I think will be best for the time I will travel there and I will share it with you as well. So it begins here in Siliguri as it will be close to Assam(Where I am from) and I can get directly from Siliguri to Gangtok either by bus or by private cab! Day 1: I will start with Gangtok Site seeing for the first day because I have been traveling to reach there as it will provide some rest and sleep which will help me for my further journey! And yes I will also book a cab for Nathula Pass as it needs permit for that, cab drivers will arrange that for me for a small sum! Day 2: Nathula Pass/Baba Mandir/Tsongmo Lake will be the places cab driver will take and after that they will leave us back to Gangtok! In evening we will be booking a cab again for lachen. Day 3: Gangtok to Lachen. It will be a rough road so we will rest the day there. Or You can skip this if you are short on time! Day 4: Cabs are available for gurudongmar from Lachen. If you can arrange for lachung after coming back from gurudongmar is ok as you can find private cabs or buses. Day 5: lachung to Yumthang Valley and to Zero point and from there back to Gangtok. So this is it. hope you liked it and share a feedback or some important information I missed for the trip!

Best way to approach chopta is to take bus from Rishikesh to Baijnath. It's almost a day journey. Next day take bus or taxi from Baijnath to chopta which is around 30 km away. There is one bus only. but chopta Chandrashila track can b completed till then same bus arrives back.
