Hi, you should reserve 10 days for your trip. It will take you two to three days to reach Leh from Delhi depending on how long you drive for. You can spend the first night in Manali and second in Jispa. Reserve five days for Leh and surroundings. The places to visit in and around Leh are Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Pangong Lake, Khardung-La Pass and Hemis. For your return trip take the Leh-Srinagar highway. You can spend the 15th of August in Kargil :) before moving on to Srinagar. Places to visit in and around Srinagar are Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, Gulmarg and Sonmarg. Halfway between Kargil and Srinagar is a lovely mountain hamlet of Naranag. If you have time do visit it. I have attached an article that gives you more information about it.
Hi Geeta, finally someone who is interested in going to Pakistan like me. Yes, Indian citizens need a visa to travel to Pakistan. The Pakistani High Commision issues a non-extendable tourist visa valid for 14 days through approved tour operators/travel agents. Unfortunately, no tour operators/travel agents information is available on their page: http://www.dgip.gov.pk/Files/VisaforIndian.aspx. You have three options when it comes to visiting Pakistan: 1. Fly to Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad,
2. Take the Samjhauta Express (14001) from Old Delhi to Lahore,
3. Take a bus from Amritsar to Lahore. For an entire list of visa requirements you can refer to the link I shared above. I am looking forward to hearing your experience.
Hi Suman, the best time to visit Sikkim is either between March and May or October and mid-December. You can decide between North Sikkim or West Sikkim. The Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary and Kanchandzonga National Park in North Sikkim house some of the rarest species of flora and fauna. Chungthang, Singiek, KabiLungtsok and Yumthanga are other sites to visit in North Sikkim. Pelling, Yuksong and Rabdentse ruins are places in West Sikkim that have been gaining prominence. Yuksong is fast becoming an urban settlement owing to the influx of the tourists from various parts of the world. You can also refer to Tripoto's Sikkim travel guide: http://tripoto.com/travel-guide/sikkim. It has 5 to 10 days itineraries. Also refer to the attached article to get a better idea of Sikkim.

Hi Divya, it's so beautiful that you are traveling with your grandparents. You have two options, either start in Tirupati and go south or start in Rameshwaram and move up. Tirupati itself has an airport that you can fly to. Or, you can fly to Chennai Airport (150km) and hail a taxi to Tirupati. The closest airport to Rameshwaram is Madurai Airport (149km). You can hire a taxi from Madurai to Rameshwaram. Since you are traveling with your grandparents, I suggest that you take a flight from Tirupati/Chennai to Madurai or vice versa. Because, by road it's a 12 hour journey. As for places to visit goes, do check out Meenaxi Temple (Madurai), Dhanushkodi, Thanjavur, Pichavaram Mangroves and Pondicherry. I am attaching an article. Yes, it is titled Backpacking Trail but you will get an idea of the places mentioned.

Hi Nidhi, you are spot on. You might face torrential rain, landslides and blocked roads resulting in delays. It is best to go there after second week of June. You can even take advantage of the 15th of August holiday which is Wednesday. Take Thursday and Friday off and you have a long-long weekend. Plus flowering is better in August and the Brahmkamal in Hemkund Sahib also blooms around this time. Cheers.
