January is called as winter in Sikkim where days are pleasant whole nights are cold. Inspite of cold weather, you get to see breathtaking views so January is an ideal time to visit Sikkim provided you carry enough winter wears to keep yourself warm. Places to visit in Gangtok- Rumtek monastery, Kanchenjunga moonlight view, Himalayan zoo, seven sisters waterfall, Sarala’s garden and you could trek to Nathula based on that day snow besides doing a yak safari. Pelling- Sangachoeling monastery, swearo rock garden, rimbi falls, Yuksom, Ravangla and geyzing. Darjeeling- Nightingale park, singalila park, Japanese pagoda, tea plantations, zoo park and museum. Lepchajagat is a lovely spot 7km away from Darjeeling.

Jan is the best time for Sikkim Tour. U might get snow while traveling .. Gangtok is the town but I will suggest u to stay in a village ,homestay to enjoy the peace & scenic beauty of Sikkim... Try to stay at Lamahata at tent 1 day instead of Darjeeling. There are many other beautiful places .. In Darjeeling visit Mahakal Madir & Burdwan Palace, also cover near by places like Mirik,Kalimpong , Kurseong by car as Sightseeing.. Pelling - Sky walk at Glass bridge, Temi's tea Garden ( U can also stay there.) ,Singshore Hanging bridge .. Its difficult to complete North Bengal & Sikkim in 1-2 Trip.. Vast place & Magnificent Kanchenjunga has various appearance from different region. Do try THAKALI & local Momo's at Gangtok .

Summer is an ideal time to travel to tirthan valley with kids, for in December and January temperature dips too low. If you are carrying all possible wears that covers kids from harsh winter then tirthan valley is an option to consider. However here are some more spots around Delhi to visit during Christmas holidays. Jaipur Neemrana Udaipur Gwalior Amritsar Lucknow Khajuraho Pushkar. If you are looking for chill hill stations here are some spots Kasol Mussorie Pachmarhi Kasauli Nainital Srinagar Dharamshala. Only thing is if you are travelling to hill stations during winter in India, carry enough clothes that warms making your travel peaceful especially for children. Some beach destinations if you are interested here are a few Goa Gokarna Vizag Ganapathiphule Mangalore These spots are chill but not too cold. Just a mere suggestion upto you to decide. Happy safe journey.

Best time to visit Kinnaur is between April to June while January to March is an ideal time to visit reckong peo. Summers are ideal time to visit Chitkul. Coming to road condition from Shimla, snowfall is predicted from December mid. Still if you are planning to drive, kindly double check the weather before travelling.

By road it takes 25 hours to Varanasi. You need to take a break inbetween. Otherwise the highway and road is great to drive.
