Summer is an ideal time to travel to tirthan valley with kids, for in December and January temperature dips too low. If you are carrying all possible wears that covers kids from harsh winter then tirthan valley is an option to consider.

Coming to road condition from Shimla, snowfall is predicted from December mid. Still if you are planning to drive, kindly double check the weather before travelling.

By road it takes 25 hours to Varanasi. You need to take a break inbetween. Otherwise the highway and road is great to drive.
