Yes, you can do it without a guide. You will always find people on the trail to tag along with. You can go to the tour operator's shop near Snow Lion Cafe in Mc Leodganj before starting the hike and check if the tents are available at the top.

Hi Surbhi, October is a great time to visit South East Asia. You can go to Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia or even Thailand. All these places are economical and easily doable in 5-6 days. If you wish to go to Europe, you can check out Eastern European countries like Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria etc. Hope this helps!
