1. Mumbai / Chennai to Male over night Male
2. Male to Maafushi in ferry ( scuba and backpackers paradise ) Local and private ferries available at reasonable rate. Maafushi has amazing beach resorts/ boutique hotels under 5k per night with breakfast , over night at Maafushi
3. Sank bank excursion available online over night at resort
4. Go for padi course / snorkelling
5. You can opt to visit those water villa resort for a day. Many day trips to those water villas are available from Maafushi.
So it depends on what season you want to go
March to June :- spring ( moderately peak season )
June to Sept :- Summer (peak season , high price )
Till Nov end :- Autum ( considerably good time to visit there as rain is also less )
And then winter ( not crowded ) Winter is best for ski.
It's always better to go to a tropical place with a 10 month old as they have the tendency to fall sick easily.
