We were around 20km from the Burj Khalifa, when we first saw its distant towering spire, dwarfing all other skyscrapers around it.
Well, the Burj Khalifa is an icon, and almost synonymous with Dubai. If you are a first time visitor (or even a repeat visitor) in Dubai, going to the (almost) top of the Burj Khalifa must be on your itinerary!
Why Visit Burj Khalifa?
At 828m, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. It has more than 200 storeys, of which 160 are habitable. The highest level to which visitors are allowed is level 154. The highest outdoor observation deck in the world is also on level 124 of the Burj Khalifa.
How to Visit the Burj Khalifa
There are several options to visit this beauty.
1. At the Top SKY Tickets
Price: AED 399 for non-prime hours
AED 553 for prime hours
Inclusions: Access to level 148, 125, 124. Skip the line to the elevator.
Complimentary refreshments at SKY lounge on level 148.
2. At the Top Tickets
Price: AED 179 for non-prime hours
AED: 259 for prime hours
Inclusions: Access to level 125, 124
3. The Lounge, Burj Khalifa
Price: AED 769
Inclusions: access to floor 154, 153, 152
4. At the Top Tickets- Sun rise view
These are only available during winter months and sometimes discontinued. So check the availability before you book.
Price: AED 159
Inclusions: Access to level 124 between 5 AM to 8 AM. Access to level 125 after 8 AM. Complementary snacks at the cafe on 1st floor.
5. Coffee in the Clouds at At.Mosphere Lounge Armani hotel level 122
Price: AED 100 is the minimum spend per person.
Time: 7 AM- 8 AM
Inclusions: The lounge is on 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa. You get practically the same views as the lounge. Pre-booking is required. You get to sit and enjoy the views with coffee and snacks which you purchase. Window seats cannot be guaranteed.
6. Breakfast/any meal at Armani hotel level 122
Price: AED 350 is the minimum spend per person.
Time: Starts from 8 AM
Inclusions: The lounge is on 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa. You get practically the same views as the lounge. Pre-booking is required. You get to sit and enjoy the views with food which you purchase. Please check for any age restrictions depending on the meal and place you are choosing.
Which Option is the Best to Visit Burj Khalifa?
In my opinion, if you are going in the winter months(Nov-Feb) and your itinerary includes a Saturday or Sunday, go for the sunrise package. These are announced for a limited time and may not always be available. If you are able to wake up early and reach the entrance of the mall by 5.30, then you'll be inside Burj Khalifa by 6am. When we reached, we got direct access to the elevator without any queue. At this time you'll get the view of the night from 'At the Top'.
You'll have to wait around 1 hour 15 min for the sun to rise completely. The good part is that the sunrise can be viewed from the open deck which gives you stunning pictures, as compared to sunset which has to be viewed from the glass which can cause a lot of reflection.
If you are able to wait till 8 am, then level 125 also opens and is complimentary with the package.
You also get a complimentary breakfast treat at the cafe in level 1.
The best part? The tickets are cheaper than the regular non prime time hour tickets!!
While you are in the vicinity, visit Wings of Mexico, Dandelion Statue, lounge about in the Burj Park and take tons of pictures without any crowds.
