I am sharing here my experience of this year's IITF. Hopefully that will be helpful for your next year's visit.
How to reach there - you can reach there by car, bus or metro. Nearby metro station is pragati Maidan.

How to book tickets - You can book tickets online from book my show or you can buy ticket from 66 allotted metro stations.
What to buy - There are many blocks . one block of almost each state and one international block. International block is my personal favorite.
International block - vendors from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Thailand, Korea, Bangladesh and many other countries come there to sell dry fruits, dry berries, perfumes, lanterns, saffron, essential oils, wall hangings, decorative items and clothes. They actually have really amazing perfumes so must visit this section. other than these all there were watches, coconut products, jewelry(really beautiful), metallic statues and many more.
State Blocks - These blocks are beautifully decorated every year. They have things like spices, baskets, pickels, jaipuri rajai, madhubani paintings, decorative items, bedsheets cosmetic products and many many more things like these.
other than these blocks there are industrial block where BHEL, SAIL, GAIL, ONGC. where they shows their operating systems and how they work.
What to Eat - They have food zone as every fair in delhi they have foods from almost every state. so you can have chhola bhaturas as well as Masala dosa or litti chokha. So next time plan to visit IITF delhi.
Pro Tip - Reach there before 12 pm so that you can visit in the rush free hours.
