This is a district town around 500 kilometers northwest from Bangalore and shares the same administration along with its sister city of Betageri. This city is mainly known for the historic temples and printing presses. The temples of Veeranarayana and Trikuteshwara are example of the fine architecture and art styles of the Chalukya Era. Apart from the Hindu temples of Trikuteshwara, Saraswathi and Veeranarayana, there are also two Jain Temples dedicated to Parshvanath and Mahavira. The other attractions here are the Jagadguru Tondaraya Mutt, Beladhadi, Hombal, Lakkundi and Venkatapura.
