Not having any Trip to north India previously and after having relaxing conditions & norms for Covid 19 we decided to take short trip to Garhwal division of Uttarakhand for relaxation from daily hassle. Having children with us we decided to take small yet mesmerising route. We have booked flight from Ahmadabad to Dehradun having convenient morning departure.
Mussoorie: The queen of Hills
Though Little bit crowded & commercialised , Mussoorie has its own charm having chilly weather in mid February ( day temp was around 9-10 degree and night temp around 1-2 degree). Just before 5 to 6 days there was Snow fall in Mussoorie and we were in hope of experiencing snow fall but could not. Yet it was a very mesmerising stay at Mussorrie. We visited Bhatta water fall in evening having facility of rope-way to get there. Many vendors in Bhatta waterfall serving snacks and tea/coffee on benches in middle of the chilled water. It was a different experience. In night visited mall road having yummy dinner & experienced very colweather.
On second day in morning visited La Tibba scenic point , highest peak in mussoorie with view of Gangotri peak.
From Mussoorie we have started our journey towards Kanatal having less crowded, Very peaceful and stunning atmosphere.
On way to Kanatal we stayed at Buras Khanda for best view of Himalayan range and to take photos and experience snow. On the way there were many snow capped hills ( due to recent snow fall one week before) and children enjoyed to play in snow. This road remain blocked in case of heavy snowfall, so plan accordingly. On the way one can visit Surkanda devi temple ( up and down around 6 kms track) and Dhanaulti Eco park.
After reaching to hotel in Kanatal we enjoyed our Lunch on hotel terrace having cool atmosphere and having view of snow capped hills around. we decided to take jeep safari in kaudia forest. It was a little bit scary but thrilling experience. Having thrilling rides On very narrow snow laden paths on open Gypsy we finally reached in dense Forest surrounded with pine tress and valley view. Due to clouds we could not experience Gangotri peak. One can experience very nice view of Gangotri peak from here in clear weather. At night there was very chilled weather ( around 0 to -1 degree) at Kanatal. Room heater was provided by the hotel having some relief. experienced bone fire on hotel terrace.
Tehri & Rishikesh
Tehri dam is approx 30-35 kms from Kanatal. The dam reservoir, also known as Tehri Lake, is usually flocked with tourists interested in boating and is slowly becoming a prominent hub for water adventure tourism in Uttarakhand. One can enjoy stay here having facility for floating huts. After spending 1.5 to 2 hrs at Tehri dam we left for final destination of our tour Rishikesh.
We have chosen our stay at Shivpuri, approx 15 km from Rishikesh having less chaos and very mesmerising location of resort on the bank of river Ganga. After having refreshment at resort we left for Triveni ghat at Rishikesh for divine experience of Ganga maiyaji arti. It was truly well organised and divine experience. We took dinner at cafe having magnificent night view of Rishikesh. After reaching at resort in Shivpuri spent wonderful time at room balcony having unmatched experience of sound of flowing river few meters away from resort.
Having wonderful tea and breakfast at resort we left for the white water river rafting. As beginner We decided to go for short track of approx 12 Km. It was really well organised and guided experience having proper safety precautions. It was wonderful experience of taking dip in middle of the very chilled river. We ended our rafting just at resort and enjoyed boating with children just behind the resort. We visited local market in Rishikesh in evening
Rishikesh
On last day of our trip we enjoyed resort amenities and leisure at river bank having filling of beach & playing in sand with children. We enjoyed boating in river having mini rafting experience along with children. We left for Dehradun in noon having flight for Ahmadabad in evening.
