Gangotri is a town and a Nagar Panchayat in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi and origin of river Ganges. It is on the Greater Himalayan Range, at a height of 3,100 metres.
Elevation: 3,415 m

Me and my friend went on bikes to visit the chardham and our day 2 is to visit Gangotri.

We started from yamunotri and back to check post where we register ourselves before visiting Yamunotri,
Need to take right and travel through thick ghat section of roads surrounded by trees and can see glaciers from the top of the mountain while you were traveling towards Gangotri.

The ghat roads takes you from the small villages and end up connecting with NH34 , from here the route takes you the dham.

Travelling on NH 34 you can see the river bhagirathi flowing beside the roads and the scenary is pretty awesome and to travel to Gangotri we need to travel 95 km from uttarkashi and these 95 km are entirely thick ghats and bends are so narrow and need to maintain 20-30 kmph and this is the highest that we can drive on those ghats.
The last village that comes before Gangotri is Lanka village after that we can directly got to the temple.
We can find accommodation in Lanka , harshil and Gangotri. The temperature the recorded was -6 degree Celsius in winters.
