This was the day when we planned a short trip towards Baralacha Pass ,one of the highest pass of the mighty Himalayan ranges.It is a high mountain pass in Zanskar range, connecting Lahaul district in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh.And the love and respect towards this mountains ranges makes me explore this places again and again. So,here is another adventurous trip which we had in the past ( Year July 2017 ).
In order to go Baralacha pass,one has to start the road trip from manali .You can either take your own vehicle or else you will get lots of local travel agencies who provides rented vehicles or bikes aswell. As we came all the way from New delhi so we had our own Vehicle.Arrived manali in the early morning and checked in the hotel in Mall road. We planned to stay a day in manali itself as to prepare ourself for the next day high altitude trip, as one has to be physically and mentally prepared for this kinda trips.Night at the hotel in Manali.
You need to get a permit while visiting Places Beyond Rohtang Pass .It can be applied from the office of Tourism development council ,manali which is in the mall road.As,we had already applied the pass yesterday so we started around 10:00 AM from manali towards keylong (Distance 115km ) which was our first stop. Keylong is situated in Lahaul and Spiti district .We reached keylong around 03:00 pm .Also Decent Hotels are available around this place, but we choose to stay the night camping beneath the glowing stars in the sky.What a perfect night it was.The camp owner was a good man,as he was sharing his stories with us,and enjoying the night singing along with us, also he managed to preparea bonfire for us without any charge ( Usually it cost approx 500-1000 INR). Had dinner and off to bed as we had to head towards our destination.
Next day was a short drive towards (distance 75.6 km) Baralacha pass as our final destination .So we started early as to buy some more time visting the place and clicking some good pictures,As we did the same. On the way you will pass by Jispa and Zing zing bar ( Usually one can find camping and hotels for night stay ).Mostly Bikers Groups going towards Leh-Ladakh makes a stay at this places as you can find a small market and good River side Camping areas.So,we decided to stay at Jispa on the way back .We arrived around 02:00 pm at Baralacha pass clicked some photos and enjoyed the view.later we decided to proceed little further till Sarchu (also known as Sir Bhum Chun) ,where you can find major halt point with lots of Tented accomodations in the leh -manali highways.The distance was approx 32 kms only.Though we were not heading towards Leh after that ,but we wanted to feel the thrill staying at the place with others.Got a tent stay for a reasonable cost ( approx 1000 per person ) including food. The night at Sarchu was even exciting as there were number of biker groups who were staying,listening to there tales and sharing thoughts with each other was a totally nice experience ,as we were planning a Bike trip to Leh-ladakh next year.After having dinner night stay at tent with warm blankets as it was a freezing night.
Today was the fourth day of our trip so we started early morning post breakfast .As Manali was only 223 Km approx from Sarchu so we decided to skip the stay at Jispa and proceeded towards Manali. We reached around 07:00pm in the evening checked in the hotel and sound sleep as tommorow we had to head back to New delhi.
