Why I Chose New Year's Day Over New Year's Eve - #2021

Tripoto

2020 - The number will officially be one that will ignite a lot of emotions in different people, all over the world. We have all been waiting for a fresh start after a year that was difficult, so it's understandable that everyone wanted to celebrate New Year's Eve in special ways but I was more keen on the next day.

1st January 2021. I wanted it to be one that can hopefully set the tone for the rest of my year. So, my mother and I decided to visit Mashobra for a couple nights for a 'cool' start to the year.

I woke up with an amazing view and a dramatic sky outside my window. We booked a place in Mashobra away from Shimla's maddening crowd on Homestays of India. We then spent the day in search for snowy landscapes and found ourselves on the Kufri-Narkanda route.

Yes, we tried our best to avoid tourist spots and only stopped for breath taking views, and despite best efforts couldn't get rid of the *Pahadi* traffic jam. But these pictures will prove that starting your New Year with a beautiful place is a good idea.

Local food is usually a more hygienic and tastier option (plus desi butter on Tandoori Rotis is the best - no?)
