One of the most popular national parks in India, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve located in Madhya Pradesh has been burning since a massive forest fire broke out on 29th March 2021. The authority is putting their efforts to put out the blaze. However, they have taken too long to douse the forest fire, say the locals.

What is special about Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve?

Bandhavgarh is considered the most visited park by many tourists annually in the Vindhya Hills of the Umaria district. The reserve is famous for its royal Bengal tigers. The Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve spread across an area of over 100 squares, and it is known for the Royal Bengal tigers. Over the past years, the park has shown a rise in the count of tiger species which is known to be the reason behind tiger tours that can attract a large number of tourists in its vicinity.

Current Status

According to reports, several zones including one of the three major zones- Magdi is also believed to catches fires. The trees engulfed in the blaze and vast expanse of grasslands covered in plumes of smoke can be seen in the visual recorded from the location.

The same incident was reported earlier this month at Odisha's Similipal Reserve where disturbing images from the Similipal forest in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha were captured in bright orange flames during nighttime. Hence, a forest fire has raised concern among environmentalists and conservationists.

Steps to preserve our natural habitat

We all need to be a little conscious of the environment. As the factors like global warming and disasters changes in the weather patterns continue to contribute to the forest fires.
