What is the distance covered by the 'Ganga Vilas', route map and days in the sea?

Starting the voyage from Varanasi, the cruise will cover a total distance of 3,200 km to Dibrugarh in Assam via Bangladesh. During 50 days, the Ganga villas will traverse through 27 river systems in India and Bangladesh.

From Varanasi, the cruise will enter the Hooghly river at Farakka and reach Sunderbans. It will travel nearly 1,100 kilometres through Bangladesh before entering India again in the West-East length of Assam through Brahmaputra from Dhubri to Dibrugarh.

It will arrive in Patna on the 8th day, sailing through Buxar, Ramnagar, and Ghazipur.

The route includes three major waterways- National Water Way 1 over the Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly river system, The Indo-Bangla Protocol Route from Kolkata to Dhubri, and National Waterway 2 over the Brahmaputra.

Measuring 62.5 m (length), 12.8 m (width) and 1.35 m (draft), the 'Ganga Vilas' is the first river ship built in India. As per reports, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union minister of ports, shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, while inaugurating seven community jetties and laying the foundation stone of eight other, released the time table of the cruise at a programme organised by the Inland Waterways Authority of India at Ravidas Ghat.

The Government is aiming to increase awareness about river cruising in other rivers of India as well via this program.
