December 2019 I made a list of spots I wanted to visit in 2020. I had no idea then that three months later lockdown would be announced and that it would continue for a whole year. This year as usual I have made a list, hoping by at least after mid 2021 I would travel.
TOPSLIP- Located near pollachi, in the state of Tamilnadu at an altitude of 800feet on Anamalai mountain, I have heard it is one of the most beautiful spot of Tamilnadu. Gentle altitude, salubrious climate, variety flora and fauna, picturesque views, lush nature is what Topslip is all about. From Coimbatore 97km away is this hill station. Unique things to do- Trek to anamalai mountain-Visit Indira Gandhi national park-Visit mount Stuart block a British bungalow- Have-a ride to Aliyar dam park
ITALY- Located on the part of west Europe, with Rome as its capital, the name Italy was derived from Greek language, meaning land of calves. It’s history is from Palaeolithic era, where settlements were found near river Tiber. Unique things to do- Visit valley of Mills -Hike in cinque Terre- See an opera in Verona’s area- Have a full insight of Ancient Rome-Attend any local festival.
KUMARAKOM- The very name of the city, gave me thoughts to find out and plan a travel. Located in Kottayam district Kerala on the backdrop of vembanad lake, this city was ruled by King of Thekkumthur. Unique things I wanted to do - Book a houseboat ride -Have a spa massage- Trek to Aruvikkuzhi falls -Shop for wood carvings -Fish in vembanad lake.
GREECE-It was known as Hillas located in south east Europe. Evidence say their history dates, 2,70,000 BC in Petralona cave. Unique things to do- Do sea kayaking -Have a view of city from tourists lighthouse -Soak my food in myrtos beach- Visit Delphi museum- Have a bite of backlava -See how springs flowers bloom.
AMSTERDAM- It is the capital city of Netherlands popularly called as, Venice of the north, that there are many sites listed under, UNESCO world heritage. The very name Amsterdam is derived from dam Amsted. Their history starts from 10th century where Dutch is unique were the main inhabitants reside. Unique things I wanted to do- Visit Tuschinki theatre - Experience 5D flight -Sip high tea in a small house- view the Royal palace -Shop for antiques.
SRINAGAR- Called as summer capital located in jammy and Kashmir on the banks of Jhelum river, Srinagar was called as city of the surya, that there has been a mention of this city in the Kalhana Rajatarangini. It was ruled by, King Pravarasena II. Unique things to do -Enjoy a shikara ride -Visit Mughal gardens -Pray at Shankaracharya temple -Click Wular lake called as picturesque view of Srinagar - Visit chatti padshahi Gurudwara.
SYDNEY- Capital city of Australia surrounded by blue mountains that residents of this city are known as Sydney siders. Indigenous Australians are the inhabitants of this city that their history is 30,000 years old. Unique things I wanted to do - Taking a coastal walk on spit - Climb Sydney harbour -swim in Bondi iceberg pool- watch sunset in Hornby lighthouse- Have a salad or sandwich at chippendale buzzy A1 canteen.
A traveller never stops planning. It’s a major part of travel, unless planning happens, visiting can’t happen, unless visiting happens exploring can’t take place. So you see the chain goes on. With hope I have shifted my travel bucket list from 2020 to 2021, keeping my fingers crossed.
